A moss rose with small double flowers that are very dark maroon-purple with golden stamens in the centre.  Magnificent rose that grows to 1.2 x .9m.  Should be grown just for its flower colour alone, incredibly dark colours.  Spring flowering, and not a lot of moss like some in this group.  Also known as ‘Old Black’.  Bred by Laffay in France, 1845.
